Supplemental Security Income pays monthly checks to people who are aged, disabled or blind and who do not own much or have much income. SSI is not just for adults. Monthly checks can be paid to disabled and blind children. To find out if you are eligible call 1-800-772-1213. A McNeely family reunion will be held October 1 in the community center in Hope (same place as last year). Everyone is invited. The McRae Middle School PTP is offering various items for sale this year to fund projects that will benefit the school. PTP membership, sweatshirts and t-shirts are still on sale. The shirts have Curley Wolf Prescott School on them. Order forms have been sent home with students. For the past three years the local schools have been covered in prayer by a group of moms who meet on Tuesdays at 1:45 at First Baptist Church to pray for one hour. The Rhodes reunion will be held Saturday, September 30, at the Cale Community Center. Potluck lunch will be served at 12:00 noon. All family and friends are invited to attend. A Friendship Cemetery meeting will be held at 1 p.m. Anyone with family members or friends are encouraged to be there. A southern gospel singing will be held at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Cale Sunday, October 1, at 3 p.m. Bound for Glory will be featured. Daniel Clark will bring a brief sermon. The foundation office at Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia will offer a special class, basic estate planning' Tuesday, Oct. 3, at two different times. The first class will be held from 1:30 until 4 p.m.; the second class will run from 6:30 until 9 p.m. Lance Larey, a 1961 graduate of SAU and an attorney, will lead the course. Basic estate planning will cover such topics as use of trusts and wills, retirement planning and charitable giving. This class is free and open to the public. The agenda will include reorganizing the board, elementary and high school principals' reports, superintendent's report, hearing from the elementary textbook committee, consider policy on fund raising and personnel matters. The class of 1950 will have its 50th reunion Saturday, October 14, at the First United Methodist Church beginning at 9:30. Doughnuts and coffee will be served. All friends are invited to stop by. A gospel meeting will be held October 1-4 at the Hope Church of Christ with speaker Tommy Mounts of Murfreesboro.
