Preparations are underway for the 20th Annual Gurdon Forest Festival.

According to Freddie Horne, festival director, this is one of the largest festivals in the area. This year's Forest Festival will be held Saturday, Oct. 28 on Main Street in downtown Gurdon.

A special birthday party is being planned for the occasion as well. Horne said this is the 120th birthday for the City of Gurdon, and, as tradition dictates, there will be cake and ice cream for everyone.

There will also be a full slate of entertainment for the bandstand shows, including performers from Little Rock, Malvern, Nashville, Whelen Springs and Gurdon.

Special guests have been invited to speak at the opening ceremony, where a "Meet the Candidate" forum will be held for those running for office.

Horne said more than 75 arts and crafts booths have been reserved for the festival already. The booths are $20 each, and local vendors are being urged to reserve their booths as soon as possible.

For more information about the festival call Horne at 353-2588. For information about the car show, contact Terry Norris at 246-5139.
