Bishop Wins ElectionBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, September 27, 2000 in the Nevada County Picayune Excitement isn't a word to be used in connection with the School Elections Tuesday, Sept. 19. This is because there was only one contested race in the three school districts. The Nevada School District had incumbent Jerry Bishop being challenged by Caroline Holliman. However, Bishop prevailed and retained his seat on the Nevada School Board with a 40-23 win. In Emmet, Clint Walser was elected to his first term, while Jon Saladin was put in for another term. Kay Hendrix will be returning to the Prescott School Board. None of the three districts had millage increases on the ballot, yet a millage issue was there. All three passed, and the existing millages will be rolled over. These are not new taxes, but continuations of existing ones. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
