The Red Springs Extension Homemakers Club met September 21 in the Gurdon Municipal Building with Tootsie Dempsey and Lavene Bauer hostesses.

There was no program as September was a busy month preparing for county fair activities.

President Dempsey called the meeting to order and read an inspirational reading, Consider Our Future. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Prayer was led by Sybil Harris. Mary McBride led the group in singing. Eighteen members were present with Naomi Brown becoming a new member.

In the business session each member will bring canned foods for the Thanksgiving basket and items for a basket to take donations on for a fund-raiser.

A card of thanks was read from Emily Gray. She was a winner in the talent division of the county fair and was sponsored by the club.

The district fair is this week in Hope. It will end September 30.

Fall council is planned for November 18 at Bowen's Restaurant in Caddo Valley beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Mapping Your Way Through the Medicare Maze,' a free workshop sponsored by AFMC, SHIIP, AARP and the Arkansas Area Agency on Aging will be held October 3 from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m. at Third Street Baptist Church in Arkadelphia.

The meeting adjourned with Georgia Schee blessing the food. The next meeting will be at the regular time on October 12.
