It's Time To Clean Up Gurdon

Published Wednesday, September 27, 2000 in the Gurdon Times

It's clean up time in Gurdon again.

From Sept. 25-30, the city will pick up household junk at curbside. However, this does not mean the city will be picking up garbage, in fact, it won't.

The city will pick up appliances, furniture, old building materials and household junk, but absolutely no garbage or bagged items.

Limbs will be acceptable, if they've been cut to maximum lengths of four feet. But, the city will not accept any limbs or such cut by commercial haulers.

Normally, Gurdon has two such clean ups a year, one in the spring and the other in the fall. This is to help citizens get rid of items not usually picked up in the weekly garbage collection.

Anyone having anything to be picked up should call the Gurdon City Hall at 353-2514 before 1 p.m., if they want same-day pickup. No calls after 1 o'clock Saturday, Sept. 30, will be accepted.

Once again, the Clark County Road Department will be helping the city in hauling the items collected to the county's class IV landfill.

Areas outside Gurdon are welcome to bring their items to the city's collection point on Joslyn Street during regular business hours.

For more information, or to get questions answered, call 353-2514.
