Published Wednesday, September 20, 2000 in the Nevada County Picayune

Prescott High School students (grades 9-11) will begin taking the Stanford Achievement Test - Ninth Edition Monday, September 25.

The students will test in the mornings.

"It is of utmost importance that students do their best on these tests," according to school officials, "because the tests show their progress in reading, math, spelling, language, study skills, science and social studies and listening skills.

There are some things that parents can do to help their children make good test scores.

Stress the importance of doing their best on every part of the test.

Be sure that they get a good night's rest each night before the test.

Be sure that they have a good breakfast each day that the test will be given.

Provide two #2 pencils for the student.

If the student has a calculator, he/she needs to bring it the day of the mathematics test. Calculators will be provided for students who do not have one.
