Ten Volunteers To Help Begin Reading Challenge

Published Wednesday, September 20, 2000 in the Nevada County Picayune

The America Reads Challenge is off to a great start at Prescott Elementary School. Ten people have volunteered to help this year.

Georgiana Wesson, Flo Brackman, Mary Godwin and Betty Turner, who are seasoned volunteers, are back. New volunteers are Darlene Henderson, Diana Gentry, Carrie Mauldin, Brandy Karlovic, Nicole Simon and Herb Morrow.

The America Reads Challenge Program is part of a partnership effort that combines the energies and resources of the local schools and community to assure that every child can read by the third grade. Community volunteers are the foundation for this program.

The program can always use more help in Prescott and at this time are in desperate need of volunteers for Nevada and Emmet Schools.

If you could manage just an hour a week you could change a child's life. Help your school and community and reward yourself.

If you would be interested in helping with this program at your local school or would like more information call Kris Abercrombie at SWADC Learning Center at 870-887-5536.
