Boughton NewsBY MRS. WILLIE HOOKSPublished Wednesday, September 20, 2000 in the Nevada County Picayune We have had our first sign of fall this weekend, but we still need rain. Nine of the Herbert and Jennie Ridgell grandchildren, Delores Thomas, Joy Shaver, Tommy and Malvern Elmore, Cathryn Jester, Herbie and Paul Ridgell, Kay Wren and Sue Austin, three aunts, several kids and grandchildren and cousins, Lynn and Barbara Mays met Saturday for potluck lunch on the beautiful spacious lawn of Kay Wren's home. There were approximately 75 who enjoyed an ice cream supper at the same place. Bro. Travis and Rhonda George, Evelyn and Buddy Murray, Edgar and Wanda White, Billy House and her son and wife, and Everett and Mary Orren visited Chloe Orren last week. Bro. Travis, Rhonda and Buddy also visited other home bound church members. The annual House, Cagle and Brown reunion was held Sunday at the VFW in Prescott. Approximately 100 attended. Seven of grandma's children were represented, one from Clara Cook, three from Lina Love, two from Jack Cagle, six from Nannie Kirkpatrick, 21 from Joe House, 51 from Jennie Ridgell, five from Wesley House, six visitors and eleven from Rachel Brown's family. Floyd House acted as emcee for the group. Barbara Mayes of Minnesota won a price for coming the longest distance; Elsie Elmore and Willie Hooks for oldest woman and man; Katlin Crabtree the youngest; and the door prize was won by Paul Ridgell. The emcee was also presented a gift. Faye Kirkpatrick led the group in singing Amazing Grace. Joel Ridgell gave the invocation at the noon hour. Everyone enjoyed a delicious dinner. Sixteen of the House-Cagle reunion cousins had supper Saturday night with Everett and Mary Orren. Tommy Lynn and Paula Wheeler and Kenneth and Jerad Wheeler had supper with Willie and me. Some of Elsie Elmore's children and grandchildren (didn't get their names), spent Friday and Saturday night with Elsie Elmore and Pete and Cathryn Jester.
