Nevada County Fair In Full Swing

Nevada County's 64th Annual Fair hit the ground running Saturday, Sept. 16, with a horse show at 10 a.m. and the ever-popular Lil Britches Rodeo at 6 p.m.

Things were hopping Sunday, Sept. 17, as well with a gospel singing concert in the Potlatch Building. Some 100 people attended the concert.

Monday, Sept. 18, opened with the Nevada County Fair Queens sponsoring a Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce coffee in the Potlatch Building, and was followed with items being entered in various categories.

These categories included arts, crafts, photography, baked goods, quilts, household articles, food preservation, fall gardens, field crops and furniture.

In addition several livestock divisions were entered, including, all poultry and rabbit classes.

The exhibition buildings were open until 8 p.m. Monday so contestants could get their displays set up.

Tuesday, was a day for more entries in all categories, with the flower show judged at noon.

The annual fair parade officially kicked things off Tuesday evening at 6 o'clock, with the midway opening at this time as well. The old timers rodeo was held at 7 p.m.

Tonight is a slow one for the fair with exhibition buildings open, along with the midway and the livestock show.

Thursday will be full with the midway opening at 3 p.m., followed by the livestock premium sale at 5:30 p.m. and fair pageants for tiny miss, little miss and petite miss. These events begin at 6 o'clock.

The contestants in the baby miss bracket are: Shamicah Evans, Morgan Lane, Rayleigh Smith, Katherine Hendrix, Mallory Ledbetter, Haleigh Wiley, Ka'Tasia Witherspoon, Halley McRoy and Abigail Madden.

Those in the tiny miss contest are: Lindsey Miller, MicKayla Casey, Lupe Ramos, Megan Hughes, Madison Grimes, Destany Franklin, Jessica Hopkins, Maeci Smith, Hannah Hines and Lexie Ledbetter.

There is only one contestant in the petite miss category, Cassie Godwin, and there will be no young miss contest this year for lack of entries.

Friday slows down with the carnival and exhibit buildings being the main attractions. The Curley Wolves will be out of town on this night to play the Bismarck Lions.

The fair wraps up Saturday, Sept. 23, with the midway opening at 10 a.m. and exhibit buildings opening at 5 p.m.

The rodeo will begin at 6 o'clock, with the remaining pageants starting at 6 p.m. as well. These pageants include the junior miss, teen miss and fair queen.

Those in the junior miss contest are: Brandy Harvel, Chayla Colbert and Sydney Ross.

Teen Miss contestants are: Brittany Pedigo, Jill Hubbard, Monica Garrison, Jessica Almand, Rosa Delgado and Tess Campbell.

The Fair Queen contest has but two young women involved: Amanda Cummings and Megan Reeder.

Sunday, Sept. 24, all items are to be picked up between 1:30 and 330 p.m.
