JPs agreed to spend $38,000 to help an industry locate in Nevada County during the regular meeting of the Nevada County Quorum Court on Monday, Sept. 11. These funds will help with site work if the industry decides to place their company in the community.

According to Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce director Mary Godwin the money will only be spent if the deal follows through. The funds will serve as an enticement. No names were released by Godwin since Nevada County is not the only community hoping to locate the company.

JPs agreed to spend the $38,000 - which equals the taxes they expect the proposed industry to pay during its first year.

Nevada County Judge James Roy Brown was given the authority by the group to write a letter of intent to offer the funds. This will be passed on to the prospective industry as part of an updated package they will receive from the chamber office and the Prescott-Nevada County Economic Development office.

The funds will come from County General when they are spent. Other parts of the county will benefit from the taxes once the industry opens. It is expected an additional $18,000 will end up in the Road and Bridge Department of the county.
