Beirne Rural Fire Department will be having its annual festival October 7. There is booth space available. Call Douglas Brumley at 353-6525 or Charles Shaver at 353-4640 for information.

There will be a food booth, entertainment, auction and cake walk. Booth set-up will start at 9:00 a.m. with the festivities starting at 10:00.

An area tent revival continues through Sept. 22 at 7:00 each night at Curtis Junction. Evangelists will be Bill Cato, Bobby Cook, Donny Lewis, Frank Henson, Robert Watson and Charlie Williams. Music minister will be Wade Allison. Everyone is invited to attend.

First Assembly of God in Gurdon will have a gospel concert with an exciting new group called Spirit Wind,' Friday, Sept. 22, at 7:00 p.m. Spirit Wind's' members write most of their music and have both gospel and contemporary music experience. They are from Malvern. Everyone is invited.

On Sept. 26 the Arkie-Stars Square Dance Club presents free night of beginners level square dancing. Starting at 6:45 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Arkadelphia. Free music and food is offered. Call 870-246-5681 for more information.

Gurdon Adult Education will be held Monday through Thursday starting at 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or Monday and Tuesday evenings 5:00-8:00 p.m. English as second language classes are held on Thursdays from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Gurdon Adult Education building, 107 North Third.

Curtis Assembly of God will hold its monthly gospel singing Sept. 24 at 6:00 p.m. Special performers will be Jerry and Evelyn Hyatt of Georgia, Red Ellis of Little Rock, and others.

Everyone is invited to the singing and especially to meet Rev. and Mrs. Don Youker, their new pastor. A fellowship will follow the service.

Clark County Adult Education will begin regular sessions Monday and Tuesday evenings from 5:00-8:00 and 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sessions are held at the Arkadelphia Public Schools administration building, 12th and Haddock Streets.

The Red Springs Extension Homemakers Club meets every second Thursday of each month at the Gurdon Municipal building beginning at 10:00 a.m. Any interested person is welcome to attend.

The city of Gurdon reminds residents the storm sirens are tested every Wednesday at 12:00 noon. Sirens are not tested during inclement weather.

Gurdon Masonic Lodge 187 meets the first and third Tuesday of each month. All members are urged to attend.

Alcoholics Anonymous meets on Wednesdays and Sundays at 8:00 p.m. at the American Legion building, Highway 67 North, one mile out of Gurdon.
