Concert Held By Pocket Full Of RocksPublished Wednesday, September 13, 2000 in the Nevada County PicayuneYou may have wondered what all the noise around town was about last Saturday night around 8:00. East Elm Street between Second and Third experienced a revelation dancing in the streets. First Presbyterian Church hosted an open air Christian rock concert featuring the band Pocket Full of Rocks. Many enjoyed free refreshments (contributed by Baker's Best Stop, Big Star and Shell) a beautiful cool evening and great music. This was a concert geared for youth, but there were as many adults as youth out enjoying an opportunity to hear a great band and enjoy an evening out. Pocket Full of Rocks is a band out of Texarkana. Their ministry is focused musically to glorify God and create the opportunity for people, especially youth to celebrate life and experience hope. This band is beginning to circulate nationally, having played in Colorado Springs and most recently on the mall in Washington, D.C. The group spent Labor Day weekend leading praise and worship for a gathering of 300,000 youth. The concert here in Prescott reflected the depth of that experience in D.C. and encouraged people here in the power and courage to be found in a spirit-filled life. First Presbyterian Church hopes that this Christian concert is the first of many to be experienced here in Prescott. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
