Supplemental Security Income pays monthly checks to people who are aged, disabled or blind and who do not own much or have much income. SSI is not just for adults. Monthly checks can be paid to disabled and blind children. To find out if you are eligible call 1-800-772-1213. S.C.A.N., (suspected child abuse and neglect) needs volunteers. A McNeely family reunion will be held October 1 in the community center in Hope (same place as last year). Everyone is invited. The McRae Middle School PTP is offering various items for sale this year to fund projects that will benefit the school. The Nevada County Fair Association is sponsoring an ol' fashioned gospel singing Sunday, September 17, at 2 p.m in the air conditioned Potlatch building. The singing will consist of a large choir and specials. Everyone is encouraged to attend and to join the choir or to listen in the audience. Admission is free. Union Missionary Baptist Church, Highway 53, near Bodcaw will be having a gospel singing Friday, September 15, at 7:30 p.m., featuring the Melody Boys. Everyone is invited. PTP membership, sweatshirts and t-shirts are still on sale. The shirts have Curley Wolf Prescott School on them. Order forms have been sent home with students. There will be a Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce coffee Monday, September 18, at 10 a.m. It will be sponsored by the Nevada County fair queen contestants. It will be held in the Potlatch Building at the fairgrounds. Everyone is invited to attend. Another coffee will be held Thursday, September 28, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Dalrymple Accounting, 327 East Second South. Carl Dalrymple will be introducing Brad Crain as a new addition to the firm. Everyone is invited to attend. To any woman who would like to get together with another woman to pray may get in touch with the local area contact person of Moms in Touch, Beth Ward, at 870-887-6376. For the past three years the local schools have been covered in prayer by a group of moms who meet on Tuesdays at 1:45 at First Baptist Church to pray for one hour. The Emmet PTA will have its monthly meeting September 26 at 5 p.m. in the library. Everyone is invited. The school and students need your support. Prescott School District will present its annual report to the public on September 19 at 6 p.m. This meeting will be held in the high school auditorium. There will be a singing at Boughton Baptist Church Saturday night at 7:00. New Dawning will be the special group performing. Fellowship will follow with finger foods.
