Last week's news:

Editor's note: Mrs. Meeks's news was received too late for the August 23 issue of the Picayune. It was supposed to have been printed last week, but was accidently left out. We regret the error.

Promises, promises and yet no rain.

Our community has lost a long time resident. Our sympathy goes to the family of Arl Hildebrand. He passed away on Saturday afternoon, August 19.

A back-to-school swim party was held at the home of Dustin Morrow Saturday, August 19. Approximately 40 local youths attended. After all the festivities four boys stayed over for a camp out.

Arron Ochesenbein, grandson of Bobby and Agnes Morrow, from Lexington, Ky., visited for four days.

Julene and Willie Hulan spent Friday in Emerson with her brother and his wife, Paul and Audrey Curtis.

Family and friends gave Erica Burdue a back-to-school cookout party Friday night. Erica will attend school at Central Baptist College in Conway. Those attending were her parents, John and Gina Burdue and brother, Ryan Burdue, grandparents, Bud and Faye Taylor; grandmother, LaNell Nash; James Purtle and Brenda and Lynn Wilbanks.

I've been told Scotty Bryson was visiting in and around Prescott last week. Even though I didn't get to see him I'll say hello and I still love you.

John and Debbie Henderson honored their little daughter, Jessie, on her second birthday with a party at their home on Saturday night. About 25 helped celebrate.

Faye Taylor's mother, Minnie Moore, was entered in the hospital Sunday.

Wilma Compton and Linda Ghormley spent Monday in Little Rock.

Louie McKissack and Nina Brewer from Little Rock visited Neil and me Monday.

This week's news:

My Aunt Lou Ella Cobb from Hope visited us on Sunday last week.

I talked to Thais McLelland and it is good to report her daughter and husband, Doug and Petty Burley, are much improved at their home in Kingwood, Texas.

Sorry to report Willie Hulan is a patient at St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana as of this writing on Friday.
