Edgar W. Henley, 81, of Laneburg died Wednesday, August 30, 2000, at Christus St. Michael Health System in Texarkana, Texas.

Mr. Henley was born January 5, 1919, in Reeder to John and Alva Guesner Henley. He was a retired special agent with the Internal Revenue Service for 30 years. He worked several years as an investigative reporter for a district attorney before he returned home to enjoy farm life. He was a member of Laneburg Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the European theater with the 79th Infantry Division. He remained an active member of the Camp Fannin Association of World War II veterans in Tyler, Texas.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Marguerite McGough Henley of Laneburg; three sisters, Mildred H. Cornelius of Prescott, Willodene McCroskey of Greenville, Texas, and Mary (Peggy) Lehman of Mountain Home; one brother-in-law, James B. McGough of Laneburg; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Friday, September 1, at Laneburg Baptist Church with Rev. David Hampton officiating. Burial was in Laneburg Cemetery under the direction of Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home of Prescott.
