Orval W. Hays, 81, of Garland, Texas, formerly of Delight, died Monday, August 28, 2000, at his home.

Mr. Hays was born December 20, 1918 in Wallowa, Ore., to Walter and Cora Bonham Hays. He was retired from the breeding and research department of Green Giant Canning Company. He was also a former employee of Austin Engineers and Builders of Houston, Texas, and he was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Hays was preceded in death by his wife, Avelene Hendrix Hays, who died in April 1989, and by one son, Leslie Hays.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Diann and Richard Lamb of Garland, Texas, and Linda and David Petrie of Anchorage, Alaska; one brother, Ervin Hays of Wallawalla, Wash.; seven grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 30, at Brazzel-Cornish Funeral Home Chapel with Wallace Alexander officiating. Burial was in Antoine Cemetery under the direction of Brazzel-Cornish Funeral Home of Prescott.
