Ben F. Grimes, 86, of Magnolia died Tuesday, August 29, 2000, in the Arkansas Select Specialty Hospital in Little Rock.

Mr. Grimes was born May 3, 1914, in Prescott to James T. and Ruth (Holman) Grimes. He was a retired employee of Reliance Well Service and a member of First United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Fay Barnes Grimes of Magnolia; three daughters, Barbara Lewis of Maumell; Melba Johnson and her husband Tommy of El Dorado and Jan Sims of North Little Rock; a sister, Clarice Woodson of Pinole, Calif.; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Thursday, August 31, at First United Methodist Church in Magnolia with Rev. Bob Burnham officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home of Magnolia. Pallbearers were Bill Lewis, Alan Johnson, Brian Johnson, Coby Cook, Terry Cook and Tommy Johnson. Honorary pallbearers were Columbia County United Methodist Church Men and employees of Reliance Well Service. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church.
