Martin, Hawkins United At Little Rock ChurchPublished Wednesday, September 6, 2000 in the Nevada County PicayuneKristi Michelle Martin and Jason Brent Hawkins were united in marriage at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 22, in Geyer Springs First Baptist Church in Little Rock. The Rev John Hendrix of Community Fellowship of Melborne officiated. He was assisted by Rev. David Welch of Geyer Springs First Baptist Church. Mr. and Mrs. Billy R. Martin of Prescott are the parents of the bride. She is the granddaughter of Flossie Martin and the late Merline C. Martin and the late Harvey and Clyda McKinnon, all of Prescott. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Hawkins of Heber Springs. He is the grandson of the late Carmer and George Hawkins of Drasco and the late James and Jeffie Spier of Heber Springs. The chancel held a display of candelabras embellished with sprengerii and columns topped with Boston ferns. Rev. David Smith provided nuptial music with vocals by Rhenetta Newberry and Derrick Bergfeld. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white satin gown. The bodice, embellished by satin rosettes with pearl and crystal beading, had scooped neckline with cap off the shoulder sleeves. The unadorned princess-silhouette skirt ended in a chapel length train. A matching comb of satin rosettes, pearls and sequins secured her double layer cathedral veil. She carried a cascade of white roses, mini calla lilies, star gazer lilies, sprengerii, English ivy and bear grass. Jacqui Ketcham of Little Rock was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Dejka Steinert of Birmingham, Ala., Jennifer Steeger of Little Rock and Holly Husser of Dallas, Texas. The bridesmaids wore silver floor length, crepe, sheath gowns with a scooped neckline trimmed in satin. The dresses were complimented by silver satin shawls. Each attendant carried a bouquet of calla lilies, ti leaves and bear grass. Serving as best man was Matt Bradford of Alexander. Groomsmen were Jon Arnold of Tupelo, Miss., Terry Lemke of Wynne and Derek Varvil of Russelville. Seating the guests were Mike Dumas, Tim Key, Loomy Payne and Tony Wilson all of Little Rock, and Jeff Martin, brother of the bride, of Prescott. Ellen Turner of Batesville was seated at the bride's book. Program attendants were Carolyn Kennedy of Cabot and Heidi Manatt of Little Rock. Assisting was Debbie Dillon Little Rock. A reception at Otter Creek Racket Club followed the ceremony. The room was decorated with white lattice panels enhanced with scallops of white and tiny clear lights. The buffet table held a silver vase filled with white roses, calla lilies, bear grass and ti leaves. The bride's table was covered with a white satin cloth and lace over-lay. The bride's cake was a four-tiered, pillard white cake with a fountain between the bottom two layers, enhanced with calla lilies and star gazer lilies. The groom's cake was a traditional chocolate cake decorated with a red Arkansas razorback. His table was enhanced with an arrangement of white calla lilies and white roses in a crystal vase. Punch was served from a silver fountain. The bride is a graduate of Hendrix College. She received her doctorate of medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. She has currently entered her second year of a combined internal medicine/pediatrics residency at UAMS and Arkansas Children's Hospital. The groom attended the University of Central Arkansas and received his doctorate of pharmacy from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He is a pharmacist at Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System. The couple will reside in Little Rock after a honeymoon in Seaside, Florida. Social Events Honoring the Wedding Couple. A wedding shower was given for Kristi Martin and Jason Hawkins in the Prescott Church of Christ fellowship hall May 9.
