Prescott Man Injured In Boating AccidentBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, September 6, 2000 in the Nevada County Picayune A Prescott man was injured in a boating accident Monday, Aug, 28, on the Little Missouri River. According to Bill VanScoy, with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, Bobby Almand suffered a broken hip and other injuries while trying to help recover two other boats that had sank. The first boat sank late Sunday afternoon, Aug. 27, after getting caught in a log jam. Cecil Argo took a boat to try and raise the first one, only to have his boat sink as well. Almand's aid was sought, and he managed to get Argo's boat out of the water, but when he went back to get the other boat, his was off plane and when he gave it gas, it hit a stump. Almand managed to get his boat back to the landing on Highway 67, and was taken to Medical Park Hospital by the Nevada County Ambulance Service. From MPH, he was transferred to Wadley Regional Medical Center in Texarkana. Eventually, VanScoy said, all boats were recovered. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
