Death Of 15-Year-Old Under InvestigationBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, September 6, 2000 in the Gurdon Times Area law enforcement officials are investigating the death of a 15-year-old Gurdon girl. According to reports from the Clark County Sheriff's Office, a 9-1-1 call was placed around 3:45 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, for paramedics to the home of Danny Deaton in Gurdon. Upon arrival, according to a release from Clark County Sheriff Troy Tucker, officers and paramedics found the teen to be suffering from cardiac distress. The emergency personnel began resuscitation procedures and took her Kim Adams to Baptist Medical Center in Arkadelphia, where she was pronounced dead. Tucker, CCSO deputies and a special agent of the Arkansas State Police interviewed several people who were at the Deaton house when the incident occurred. The scene was examined for any evidence relevant to Adams' death. According to the release, "due to the age and apparent good health of the female, the case is being investigated as having been the result of something other than natural causes." The body was examined by investigators at the hospital, then sealed and sent to the Arkansas Crime Lab in Little Rock for an autopsy to determine the cause of death. Gurdon Police officer Andy Williams was the first officer on the scene. According to his preliminary report, when the call came in and he arrived, he was met in the yard by two females. Williams was led to a bedroom in the house where Adams was. His report stated she was on the floor on her back between the wall and bed. One of the young women at the scene, Williams reported, said she knew CPR. He told her to administer it until ambulance personnel arrived. However, according to his report, Adams appeared to have a white complexion and no color to her skin. The incident is currently under investigation.
