Smith Takes Top Spot in Super Pro At Prescott RacewayBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, August 30, 2000 in the Nevada County Picayune Star City's Larry Smith took the top spot in the super pro division at the Prescott Raceway Saturday. Smith had a dial in time of 4.89, just missing it with his estimated time of 4.88 and covering the course at 144 miles per hour. His reaction time off the line was 0.758. Scotty Dedman, of Hot Springs, was second, though he broke on the line. Jerry Holloway, of Greenbrier, was one of two semifinalists. His dial-in time was 6.23, while his ET was 6.22. Holloway's reaction time was 0.546, while his speed was 109. The other semifinalist was Billy Sanders of Hope. His dial-in time was 5.97, while his ET was 5.98. Sanders' reaction time was 0.557, and he ran the course in 116 mph. Greenbrier's Allan Holloway won the no electronics class. His dial-in time was 5.98, with his ET being 5.99. He had a reaction time of 0.523 with a run of 111 mph. Next up was Ervin "Snake" Blakely, of Prescott. His dial-in time was 7.53, while his ET turned out to be 7.55. Blakely's reaction time was 0.554, while he made the run in 88 mph. Artie Green, of Alexander, was one of the two runner's up in the race. His dial-in time was 6.39, while his ET was 6.45. Green's reaction time was 0.517, while his run was 105 mph. Peggy Maness, of Waldo, was the other semifinalist. She had a dial-in time of 9.21 and made the run in 9.19. Her reaction time was 0.663, with the run at 80 mph. Sheridan's Zach Reynolds took the street division. His dial-in time was 11.33, while the run was made in 11.35 seconds. His reaction time was 0.614, for a speed of 91 mph. Kevin Hollis, of Stephens, was second. His dial-in time was 13.10,while his ET was 13.14. Hollis' reaction time was 0.486, while his speed was 78. Charlie Vines, of Hampton, was the runner up. His dial-in time was 13.40, while his ET was 13.42. He had a reaction time of 0.668 and a speed of 76 mph. In the Quick 16 class, Charlie Porter of Mineral Springs was the winner. His dial-in time was 6.07, while his ET was 6.11. Porter's reaction time was 0.503 and speed hit 108 mph.
