Home Program Slated For September 21

A Home Instruction Program for Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) is scheduled to begin Sept. 12. The program is home-based program, sponsored by Clark County Youth Development Center.

Children ages three and five in Clark and Pike Counties, who meet the required ABC eligibility guidelines, may enroll in the program. Children are required to remain in the program for two years.

Upon completing the program children will be awarded certificates.

The HIPPY program is a home-based intervention program that helps parents provide educational enrichment for their preschool children. The program stresses the vital role that parents play in their children's early education.

Four home-based educators will receive training and certification by Arkansas state HIPPY program.

Children enrolled in day care centers or head start are eligible to participate if those programs are not receiving ABC funding from the State Department of Education.

Applications are now being accepted at the Clark County Youth Development Center. Children must be three or four years of age before Sept. 15.
