Donald L. Downing

Donald L. Dowings, 55, of Burleson, Texas, formerly of Prescott, died Wednesday, August 16, 2000, at Fort Worth.

Mr. Dowings was born October 7, 1944, in Prescott to William Stanley and Katie Campbell Dowings. He was a retired carpenter, attended First United Methodist Church in Joshua, Texas, and he was a member of New Salem United Methodist Church in Laneburg. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother, William R. Dowings.

Survivors include his wife, Lucy Thompson Dowings of Burleson, Texas; one son, Stanley Dowings of Burleson; one daughter, Holly M. Dowings of Burleson; six sisters, Minnie Hart of Wing, Texas, Florence Baker of Texarkana, Ark., Louise McKissack of Longview, Texas, Margaret Schaeffer of Fouke, Mildred Stallsworth of Benton, La., and Sue Monroe of Arlington, Texas; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held Saturday, August 19, at New Salem Cemetery in Laneburg with Rev. J.R. Callicott officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home of Prescott.
