Dedman Captures Super Pro DivisionBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, August 23, 2000 in the Nevada County Picayune Scotty Dedman, of Hot Springs , captured the Super Pro division at the Prescott Raceway Saturday. Dedman covered the course at a speed of 137 miles per hour, with a reaction time of 0.495 and an estimated time of 5.03 seconds. Royce Poole, of Waldo, was second, at 115 mph. His ET was 6.0 seconds, and he had a reaction time of 0.496. Nashville's Phil Jones came in third with a run of 131 mph. His ET was 5.28, and reaction time was 0.509. Sonny Reeves, from Arkadelphia, was the fourth place finisher in the class. His top speed was 100 mph, while his ET was 6.96 and reaction time was 0.525. The no electronics category was won by Sheridan's Bryan Dial, with a top speed of 91 mph. Dial's ET was 7.60, while his reaction time off the line was 0.546. Velvet Lewis, of Magnolia, was in the money in second place, running 96 mph. Her reaction time was 0.545, while her ET was 7.22. Third place went to Prescott's Ervin "Snake" Blakely, who ran 87 mph, with an ET of 7.53 and reaction time of 0.522. Matt Howard, of Hensley, was fourth with a 91 mph run. His ET was 7.68, while his reaction time was 0.609. Magnolia's Jackie Lewis was fifth, with the fastest actual run of 110 mph. However, his ET was 6.22 and reaction time was 0.589. Sheridan's Zach Reynolds won the street division with a run of 89 mph. His ET was 11.63, while his reaction time was 0.725. Brandon Elton, of Benton, was second with a run of 77 mph. His ET, though, was 13.51, while the reaction time was 0.584. Third went to Glenn Landon of Camden. His ET of 11.72 and reaction time of 0.541 translated to 81 mph. In the junior dragster class, Max Ozment of Sheridan was the winner with a run of 73 mph. His ET was 8.77, while his reaction time was 0.0.609. Chris Jones, of Nashville, was second with a 61 mph run. His ET was 10.33 and reaction time was 0.541. The four wheeler and scooter group was won by Andy Reaves of Stephens. Reaves covered the course in 19.80 on his scooter reaching 23 mph. His reaction time was 0.648. Eugene Pearson, of Waldo, took the four wheel portion of the race with a time of 14.06 or 46 mph.
