Burn Ban Is In Effect For CountyBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, August 23, 2000 in the Nevada County Picayune A burn ban is in effect in Nevada County because of the extremely dry conditions and lack of rain. Nevada County Judge James Roy Brown said the burn ban has been publicized and will remain in effect until the area gets a good general rain. There have been a few grass fires, he said, but these were mostly started by someone apparently throwing a cigarette away, and not because of anyone burning under the ban.
