A representative of the Texarkana Social Security office will be in Prescott at the courthouse August 24 and September 28.

Supplemental Security Income pays monthly checks to people who are aged, disabled or blind and who do not own much or have much income. SSI is not just for adults. Monthly checks can be paid to disabled and blind children. To find out if you are eligible call 1-800-772-1213.

S.C.A.N., (suspected child abuse and neglect) needs volunteers. You can volunteer your services to help brighten the life of a child in your community.

There will be a committee meeting Sunday, September 9, in preparation for a reunion of the PHS class of 1990. The meeting will be held at Prescott Country Club. All class members are urged to attend.

The Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon-cutting for Mama Max's Diner today, Wednesday, August 16. The ribbon-cutting will be held at 11:00 a.m. at 1102 West Main.

Southwest Arkansas Development Council's Learning Centers will be hosting a Laubach tutor training Friday, August 18, and Saturday, August 19, at the Senior Citizens Center in Hope. There is no charge for this training.

Prescott Public Schools will dismiss at12:30 p.m. next week, the first week of school, August 21-25. The half-day schedule will provide time for staff development and maintenance.
