Al-Anon, for those affected by another's drinking, meets Thursday evenings at 8:00 in the church. For more information call 887-5991. A representative of the Texarkana Social Security office will be in Prescott at the courthouse August 24 and September 28. Supplemental Security Income pays monthly checks to people who are aged, disabled or blind and who do not own much or have much income. SSI is not just for adults. Monthly checks can be paid to disabled and blind children. To find out if you are eligible call 1-800-772-1213. S.C.A.N., (suspected child abuse and neglect) needs volunteers. There will be a committee meeting Sunday, September 9, in preparation for a reunion of the PHS class of 1990. The meeting will be held at Prescott Country Club. All class members are urged to attend. The Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon-cutting for Mama Max's Diner today, Wednesday, August 16. The ribbon-cutting will be held at 11:00 a.m. at 1102 West Main. Refreshments will be served. Everyone is encouraged to attend. A McNeely family reunion will be held October 1 in the community center in Hope (same place as last year). Everyone is invited. Southwest Arkansas Development Council's Learning Centers will be hosting a Laubach tutor training Friday, August 18, and Saturday, August 19, at the Senior Citizens Center in Hope. If you have a daughter 0-23 months and would like to enter the contest at this year's Nevada County Fair, contact Lisa McClure at 887-3399. Deadline to enter is August 26. Entry forms can be picked up at First Street Cleaners. Prescott Public Schools will dismiss at12:30 p.m. next week, the first week of school, August 21-25.
