One Race Contested For County School Board Spot

There will be one contested school board race in Nevada County on Sept. 19.

This race is in the Nevada School District and pits incumbent Jerry Bishop against Carolyn Holleman in zone 1. This position carries a five-year term.

Only one seat is open for the Prescott School District, and incumbent Kay Hendrix is running for reelection in zone 4. This is also a five-year term.

Two posts are open in the Emmet School District, zones 4 and 5.

Clint Walser is seeking the two-year position in zone 4, while incumbent Jon Saladin is running for reelection, unopposed, in zone 5, which has a five-year term.

None of the three school districts in Nevada County is seeking a millage increase.

According to Davis Benton, chairman of the Nevada County Election Commission, voting will be done from 7:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 19.

In Prescott voters can cast their ballots at the Nevada County Courthouse, while City Hall will be the polling place in Emmet. At Rosston, the Nevada School will be the polling place.
