Prescott School Board Approves New PoliciesBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, August 16, 2000 in the Nevada County Picayune Two new policies were adopted by the Prescott School Board in special session Thursday, Aug. 10. One of the policies addressed certified and non-certified personnel getting their contracts signed and returned, while the other dealt with graduation requirements. According to the policy on contracts, certified staff members failing to sign and return their contract for the upcoming school year shall on the 32nd day after issue and delivery be deemed a voluntary resignation of said member, effective the last day of their previous contract. Any changes in the employment of a staff member with the Prescott district will require the execution of a new contract. This includes change of employment status, term of employment or pay. For graduation, the policy was changed to eliminate the technical diploma. Prescott had been giving out three types of diplomas during graduation, but has now changed this to two. Superintendent Ron Wright told the board he had contacted the Arkansas School Board Association concerning the two policy changes and was told both were acceptable. The only other business for the board was personnel matters. Resignations were accepted from Steve Crow, Allen Dunn and Tereasa Rader, while Cynthia Moorman was hired as an English teacher at Prescott High School, Tanya Henderson was hired as Title I aide for Prescott Elementary, Jason Himes was hired as PHS special education instructor and Satarra Williams was hired as the English as a Second Language aide. A contract offered to Pat McCullough as Title I aide was rescinded. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
