Dear Editor,

I'm an angry and very tired parent. Tired because I waited up until 2:30 a.m., worried about my son and his friends to come home after seeing a movie in Hot Springs. And this isn't the first time, okay! My son called after the movie, but it just takes time to get a bite to eat and then deliver everyone home.

It's time we address this problem head-on. Most kids have no place to go except to Hot Springs or Benton, just to go to a show. They are at great risk on dangerous Highway 7 North, much less the undesirable elements of the city.

The only options most of our young people have had is to go to the woods or drive around . . . and that's expensive and dangerous, too. Some churches offer youth services, but some churches don't even fund a youth program. There is no civic or community places for our young people and their parents to meet for safe, wholesome fun.

If you are an angry, tired parent, relative or concerned citizen, let's get together and talk about this situation.

Gurdon and Arkadelphia have intelligent, creative persons, who have possible suggestions and ideas about this already.

Let's hear them. Let's show our young people that we care enough about their very lives and our future to do something about this serious situation. A solution is long overdue. See the community news section for details.
