Three Positions Filled By School BoardBY REBECCA S. COOPERPublished Wednesday, August 16, 2000 in the Gurdon Times Gurdon School Board held a special meeting for the purpose of filling three vacant positions. On August 8, the board voted to hire two new teachers. Filling the business education position will be Sheryl Smiley of Bismarck. Temporarily filling the position at Cabe Middle School for seventh and eight grade English teacher for one year will be Polly Ferguson of Okolona. The district had advertised to fill a third position, media specialist. Without a certified teacher applying the board decided to employee a teacher's aid for the post at the regular monthly meeting. Fortunately, the August school board meeting will be held on Aug. 15, at 7:00 p.m. at the Cabe Student Center before school begins on Aug. 21.
