Oak Grove NewsBY LULA Q. KENDRICKPublished Wednesday, August 9, 2000 in the Nevada County Picayune We are having some unpleasant weather. It has been hot, hot, hot. New Salem homecoming will be held Sunday, Aug. 13. Morning services will be by Elder Bernis Blake from Hot Springs. We will have singing in the afternoon. All choirs are invited. We are looking for all our friends to come out and help make it a joyful day. If you can't come, send for the upkeep of the cemetery. We really need your help. They just don't put them there and forget about them. There will be a funeral for Cute Turner's daughter, Ruby Turner, at Pine Grove AME Church Thursday. Mr. Jewel Mildred is in a Texarkana hospital. They said he is not doing well. Sympathy goes out to the Smith family, Jackson family and Turner family.
