Vines Wins At Prescott Raceway

Hampton's Charlie Vines captured the street division title Saturday night at the Prescott Raceway.

With a reaction time of 0.549, Vines covered the track in 13.47 seconds at a top speed of 76 miles per hour.

Next on the list was Carol Newton from Prescott. Newton's reaction time was 0.715, with a time of 11.95 and speed of 85 mph.

Coming in third was Charles Holt of Magnolia, with his 0.592 reaction time, run time of 10.43 and speed of 96 mph.

Benton's Brandon Elton finished fourth. His reaction time was 0.692, with a speed of 74 mph, running the track in 13.60 seconds.

In the no electronics class, Velvet Lewis of Magnolia was the winner. She had a reaction time of 0.599, an E.T. of 7.23 and reached 95 mph.

Finishing second was Jim Newton of Prescott with a 0.590 reaction time, an E.T. of 7.48 and speed of 92 mph.

Brent Watts of Waldo was third with a 0.620 reaction time, E.T. of 5.90 and speed of 117 mph.

In fourth place was David Bright of Stamps. His reaction time was 0.485, E.T. 9.42 and speed 73 mph.

Artie Green of Benton was fifth in the division. His reaction time was 0.561, E.T. 7.60 and speed 90 mph.

Turning to the super pro category, Terry Tanner of Gun Barrel, Texas came out on top with a reaction time of 0.510, E.T. at 5.56 and speed of 123 mph.

Camden's Mark Cathey was next with a 0.498 reaction time, E.T. of 7.26 and speed of 94 mph.

Kevin King of Star City was third with his reaction time at 0.529, E.T. of 5.45 and reached a speed of 130 mph.

Spencer Elton, from Benton, closed out the top finishers. His reaction time was 0.214, E.T. 5.31 and speed at 131.

Max Ozment from Sheridan captured the crown for the junior dragsters. His reaction time was 0.513, E.T. 8.90 and top speed was 72 mph.

Robby Nichols of Blossom, Texas was the runner up with a 0.568 reaction time, E.T. of 8.64 and speed of 75 mph.

Prescott's Steve Smillie won the 4 wheeler division. His reaction time was 0.680, E.T. 14.62 and top speed was 43 mph.

Sharon Vaughn of Hot Springs finished second. Her reaction time was a slow 0.913, though the E.T. was 12.92 and top speed was 46 mph.
