Alcoholics Anonymous, a fellow-ship of men and women who wish to stop drinking, meets every Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church.

A representative of the Texarkana Social Security office will be in Prescott at the courthouse August 24 and September 28.

Supplemental Security Income pays monthly checks to people who are aged, disabled or blind and who do not own much or have much income. SSI is not just for adults. Monthly checks can be paid to disabled and blind children. To find out if you are eligible call 1-800-772-1213.

S.C.A.N., (suspected child abuse and neglect) needs volunteers. You can volunteer your services to help brighten the life of a child in your community.

Nevada County Fair Queen entry forms are now available at the Chamber of Commerce. Deadline to enter all the pageants is August 12.

The Chamber of Commerce has plastic litter bags for your car or truck. These bags are from Keep Arkansas Beautiful and Nevada County.

Frontline will be in concert Friday, August 11, and Saturday, August 12, at 8 p.m. at St. John United Methodist Church in Hope. Frontline is an outreach of the Christian Motorcyclists Association headquartered in Hatfield.

The two concerts will be held on the parking lot across from Brookshire's at 814 N. Hervey. The concerts are free, but you should take a lawn chair.

There will be a committee meeting Sunday, September 9, in preparation for a reunion of the PHS class of 1990. The meeting will be held at Prescott Country Club. All class members are urged to attend.

Lamont Smith and Dasha Welch are proud to announce the birth of their daughter, Jada Denise Raquel, born Sunday, July 23, 2000, at the University Hospital of Arkansas in Little Rock.

She weighed five pounds.

Grandparents are Violet J. Welch and Bettye Smith.

The Prescott Parks Commission, the City of Prescott and the Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce will host a retirement reception for Parks Director George Odom Tuesday, August 15, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m.

It will be held at the chamber office. Everyone is invited to attend.

The Prescott-Nevada County Chamber will host a ribbon-cutting for Mama Max's Diner Wednesday, August 16. The ribbon-cutting will be held at 11:00 a.m. at 1102 West Main.

Refreshments will be served. Everyone is encouraged to attend.

Josie Ann Beavers proudly announces the birth of her brother, Joseph Austin, born Wed, July 19, 2000. He weighted 10 pounds and 15 ounces.

His parents are Joseph and Rhonda Beavers of Hope. Maternal grandparents are Richard and Bobbie Fuller of Prescott. Paternal grandparents are Joe and Pam Chism of Prescott and Mike and Pat Beavers of Hope. Great grandparents are Phil and Deronda Cloyd of Hope. Joseph's great great grandmother is Ina Beavers of Hope.
