Workshop Aids Displaced Homemakers

Southwest Arkansas Development Council's (SWADC) single parent/displaced homemakers program is offering a free four-day, Career Directions Workshop from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. June 1-4 at Southwest Arkansas Development Council, 110 South Main in Hope.

This workshop is designed for individuals who want to return to school or enter the job force and is especially helpful to single parents and displaced homemakers.

The workshop will focus on educational and employment opportunities and discuss topics such as goal setting, interviewing, resume writing, job search skills, assertiveness, applications and other topics to meet their needs.

The program is extremely successful in building the self-esteem and self-worth of participants, which then helps change the futures of those involved.

The workshop provides needed skills and attitudes which encourage life-changing decisions for the participants.

Unemployment and under-employment is a problem for many. Eligible participants can apply for scholarship assistance after the completion of the workshop. Scholarships are available for books, tuition and/or child care.
