Emmet Sets Open House, Schedule Given For Year

The Emmet Public Schools will have an open house for all students Thursday, Aug. 17, at 7 p.m. in Ross Gymnasium. The Elementary students and parents will meet with their assigned teachers for an orientation.

High school students and parents will meet with their home room teacher and receive their schedules. All students and parents are encouraged to attend.

School will begin at Emmet Monday, August 21, at 8 a.m.

Buses will run regular routes, lunch and breakfast will be served and the after-school daycare will be provided beginning on the first day of school. School will be dismissed at 3 p.m.

School pictures and senior pictures will be taken on August 25 starting at 8 a.m.

The annual report to the public will be held Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. in the cafeteria. All patrons of the school district are encouraged to attend.

Emmet School will be on a nine weeks grading period which means only four report cards per school year. Progress reports will be sent home midway through each grading period. The first progress report will be September 15.

The Emmet school calendar is as follows: August 21, first day of school for students; September 4, Labor Day; September 11, report to the public; September 15, progress reports; October 13 ends first nine weeks grading period; October 19, dismiss at 1 p.m. for parent-teacher conferences; October 20, no school for students, end of first quarter, staff development; October 26, Fall Festival 6-8 p.m.; October 27, no school; November 13, deer holiday; November 17, progress reports; November 22-24, Thanksgiving holiday; December 8, homecoming 6 p.m.; December 14, Christmas program (gym, 7 p.m.); December 18 and 19, semester exams; December 19 first semester ends; December 20-January 1, Christmas holidays; January 2, return to school; January 12, no school for students, end second quarter, staff development; January 15, King holiday; February 2, progress reports; February 19, President's Day holiday; March 9, end third nine weeks grading period; March 16, end third quarter, 43 days; March 22, parent-teacher conference (2 to 9 p.m.) dismiss at 1 p.m.; March 23, no school; March 26-30, spring break; April 13, Good Friday; April 20, progress reports; April 27, Spring Festival (Emmet School 6-8 p.m.; May 18 commencement (gym 8 p.m.); May 28, Memorial Day holiday; May 29-30, semester tests; May 30, last day for students, end of fourth quarter.
