Nevada Open House Planned

Published Wednesday, August 9, 2000 in the Nevada County Picayune

Nevada School District plans an open house for students, parents and community people on Thursday, August 17, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Elementary students will receive teacher assignments, insurance forms, lunch forms and handbooks that evening. Families and children are encouraged to go to spend time in the student's new classroom.

Seventh, eighth and high school students will receive their schedules, locker assignments, supply lists and visit with the high school staff. Bus route information will be available on that night.

Staff will present school annual improvement plans and federal and state programs at 7 p.m.

Anyone having input for Title I, VI, class reduction size, federal and state programs may meet with Ann Atkins, program director, and principals at 1:00 on Monday, August 14, or call Mrs. Atkins at 870-871-2475.

Elementary students' families may register their children for the after-school care at open house. Children from head start to sixth grade will have a quality day care from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. every school day. Charlotte Watts will be the after-school director.

The first day of school for children is August 21. Breakfast and lunch will be served. Children, who plan on riding the bus, should ride the first days to help determine routes and numbers. After-school day care will be provided beginning the first day of school.

Registration for students, who were not enrolled in the Nevada Public Schools last year, and kindergarten students, who have not previously registered, may register at anytime between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

If you have any question call the elementary office, Natalie Sherwood, elementary principal, or Sandra Browning, the counselor, at 871-2475. Parents of high school students may call Blake Epperson, high school principal, or Naomi Butler, counselor, at 871-2478.
