Gurdon's Smith Wins Street Division At RacewayBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, August 2, 2000 in the Gurdon Times Prescott's Ervin "Snake" Blakely captured the no electronics division at the Prescott Raceway Saturday, July 29. Blakely's time of 7.58 seconds at 85 miles per hour was good enough for the win. His reaction time was 0.520 off the line. David Bright of Stamps was second, with a time of 9.29 on the track, while his reaction time was 0.549. Jackie Lewis of Magnolia came in third in this category. Lewis's time was 6.23, with a reaction of 0.537. Kevin Russell, from Bossier City, La., ended in fourth place with a time of 7.45, while his reaction time was 0.475. Allan Holloway, of Greenbriar, finished in fifth place with a 6.01 and reaction time of 0.633. In the super pro division, Spencer Elton of Benton took the top spot with a time of 5.26, and a reaction time of 0.553 off the line. Kevin King, from Star City, was second with a 5.46 and reaction of 0.536. Third place was captured by Steve Trammell of Kingsland, 6.18 and 0.536. Pearcy's Charlie Berry was fourth with a time of 6.40 and a reaction of 0.581. The street division was won by Gurdon's Frank Smith in a time of 11.35. Smith's reaction time was 0.821. T.K. Faulkner, of Pine Bluff, was second with a time of 11.90 and a reaction time of 0.696. Third was held by David DeLille, of Benton, 14.68 and 0.473.
