Jewett SpellBRAZZEL / OAKCREST FUNERAL HOME of HOPEPublished Wednesday, August 2, 2000 in the Nevada County Picayune Jewett Spell, 80, of Blevins, died Monday, July 24, 2000, at his home. Mr. Spell was born October 15, 1919, in Evadale, Texas to Thomas Sterling and Leona Cochran Spell. He was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church of Blevins, a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of the 8th Air Corps during Word War II and he was a member of Evadale Masonic Lodge 1366 in Buna, Texas. Survivors include his wife, Peggy D. Spell of Blevins; one son, Randy Spell of Buna; two daughters, Carol Stroud of Hope and Judy White of Blevins; one brother, Ishmael Spell of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren, Lisa Nix, B.J. Spell, Jennifer White, Justin White, and Christopher Stroud; and two great grandchildren, Jewett Paul Nix and Sunee Nix. Funeral services were held Thursday, July 27, at Farmer Funeral Home Chapel in Silsbee, Texas with Rev. Delbert Milstead officiating. Masonic graveside rites followed in Morse Cemetery by the Evadale Masonic Lodge. Arrangements were under the direction of Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home of Hope.
