Prescott now has a new high school band director.

The district has hired Robert Fellows, Jr., to replace Jonathan Kelly as leader of the band.

Fellows comes to Prescott by way of Warren. He was the band director at Trinity Christian Academy in Hamburg last year, where he re-established the beginning band program and structured the upper level program.

He led the Warren Junior High School band from 1994-'99, teaching seventh graders music theory and history, while assisting in construction of the district's junior high music curriculum.

In addition, he directed the junior high band, which was actually two beginning bands and one intermediate band.

This changed in 1998-'99, as the number of bands increased, adding a third beginning band.

Fellows was also Warren's assistant band director, during these years, as he worked in teaching the marching band to drill, along with teaching the brass and woodwind sections.

He taught percussion sectionals and ensembles at WHS, where the group received division I ratings at the University of Arkansas at Monticello Invitational Marching Contest.

His students also earned division I ratings at the Southern Arkansas University Invitational in Magnolia four straight years.

From 1990-'94, he was the summer band camp counselor at UAM, where he instructed the percussion sectionals and ensembles.

In 1994 Fellows was a band camp staff member, again teaching percussion.

He is a member of Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity, the Arkansas School Band and Orchestra Association, the Arkansas Bandmasters Association and Music Educators National Conference.

Fellows is a 1994 graduate of UAM, where he earned his Bachelor of Music Education. He is currently working on his masters degree.
