Golden OldiesBY DORIS VANCEPublished Wednesday, July 26, 2000 in the Gurdon Times I spent last weekend at a camp meeting, so I was unable to write my article. Monday, July 17, we had show and tell, several showed old milk bottles of bygone days. Some had cows in their younger days that they had named. I remember two cows that my husband and I had whose names were Pet and Lady. Pet was a Guernsey cow who looked like the cow on a can of Pet condensed milk. Beatrice Stafford played the piano for the seniors to sing and the seniors played a name the states game. Several of us ladies quilted. The rain was a refreshing blessing today. The weather has been so terribly hot. Our prayers are with Bro. Sheets, who was in a car accident. We also want to remember the ones who have lost loved ones lately. The Gurdon Senior Adult Center is open from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. instead of from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. We would love to see all those age 60 and over to come and join us. The center is a good place to be on these terribly hot days. You can help quilt, join in the singing or just visit with your friends. Our monthly council meeting will be July 25. Bro. Shults will sing for us on July 26. The center is a program of Central Arkansas Development Council and it is a United Way Agency. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
