Rex Potter Visit Chicago On 4-Day Trip

Rex Potter, 13, of Gurdon recently returned home from a fun-filled, four-day trip to Chicago as one of 24 current and former CARTI pediatric cancer patients.

Highlights of the Chicago trip were visits to the Field Museum of National History and DisneyQuest, an interactive indoor theme park. CARTI Kids also sampled Chicago theater by taking in a performance of the musical Forever Plaid.

While at the Field Museum, trip participants got a first-hand look at the recent national headline grabber Sue, the largest and most complete reconstruction of a tyrannosaurus rex dinosaur in the world. The group also toured the traveling Smithsonian Institute exhibit Star Wars: The Magic and the Myth.'

The annual CARTI kids summer excursion is funded by proceeds from the Yvonne Richardson Memorial Golf Classic, an annual event organized by the Arkansas Automobile Dealers Association and the Independent Insurance Agents of Arkansas.

The 14-year-old tournament named in honor of the late daughter of Arkansas Razorback head basketball coach Nolan Richardson, has generated more than $600,000 in financial contributions to the CARTI Foundation.

CARTI is a nonprofit radiation therapy provider with facilities in Little Rock on the St. Vincent and Baptist Medical Centers' campuses, and at North Little Rock, Searcy, Conway and Mountain Home. Construction is underway on a new facility on the campus of UAMS in Little Rock.
