Tolbert, Kimbro United In Marriage

Rachel Leigh Tolbert and Robert William Kimbro were united in marriage Saturday, July 22, at 2 p.m. at University Presbyterian Church in Baton Rouge, La.

The Rev. Carla Pratt Keyes performed the ceremony. Organist Mrs. Lucy Hair provided music. A reception was held after the ceremony at the Lod Cook Alumni Center.

The bride is the daughter of Drs. Charles and Patricia Tolbert of Baton Rouge. She is the granddaughter of Dr. and Mrs. S. Otho Hesterly of Little Rock and Dr. and Mrs. Charles Tolbert of Waco, Texas. Her great grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Hesterly and the late Mr. and Mrs. A.B. Erskine.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kimbro of Dickson, Tenn. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Hurman Kimbro of Dickson and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Westbrook.

The bride wore a sleeveless princess gown of white satin embellished with pearl trim and chapel-length train. She wore a fingertip veil edged with satin and secured by a pearl comb. She carried a bouquet of open pastel roses, as well as a handkerchief embroidered in blue by her maternal great grandmother, the late Rachel Garrett Hesterly.

For her going away outfit the bride wore the white two-piece suit that her maternal grandmother, Bobbie Erskine Hesterly, wore for her wedding 49 years ago.

The bride was attended by her matron of honor and aunt Mrs. David Wilkerson of Franklin, Tenn. Other attendants were Mrs. Todd Welbes of Houston, Texas; Miss Ingrid Dunkelberg of Baton Rouge, La., Miss Janet Yan of New Haven, Conn., and Miss Maria Collins of Houston, Texas. They wore long sleeveless dresses of periwinkle satin with chiffon sashes and carried bouquets of pastel roses.

The flower girl was Miss Anwen Wilkerson, the bride's cousin. She wore a cap-sleeved dress of white satin with an organza overlay and embellished with white ribbon roses and pearl buttons. She wore a wreath of baby's breath in her hair and carried a basket of rose petals.

The groom's best man was Thomas Fowlkes of Chicago. His other attendants were Marc Stubblefield of Los Angeles, Anson Mount of New York City, and Michael Hawes and Todd Welbes, both of Houston, Texas.

Patrick Tolbert, the bride's brother, served as an usher.

The bride is a 1997 graduate of the Louisiana School of Math, Science and the Arts in Natchitoches, La. She will be a senior at Rice University in Houston this fall.

The groom is a 1991 graduate of Dickson County High School in Dickson, Tenn. He is a 1995 graduate of Rice University. He is the associate technical director for Moore's Opera House at the University of Houston.

After a wedding trip to Ireland the couple will reside in Houston.
