Rosston NewsBY MARGUERITE WILLIAMSPublished Wednesday, July 19, 2000 in the Nevada County Picayune Last week's news: Editor's note: Mrs. Williams's news did not arrive until Wednesday of last week, two days after it was mailed. Normally it arrives Tuesday morning. Church was well attended Sunday with Bro. Petie bringing a good message and his wife Laura bringing the special music in song. Great grandson, Tyler, is spending a few days with us while he is here on vacation and also his other grandparents, the McKinnons of Prescott. We went to Texarkana Friday and had supper at Catfish King to celebrate Roscoe's 79th birthday. Marty, Raegan and baby Wren ate with us and son Jim before going on to work. Saturday afternoon we took Tyler to Columbia Lake to go swimming. He will go to Texarkana Monday to spend a few days with his Uncle Marty and Aunt Raegan Williams and granddad Dwight and Marion Williams. We had an ice cream social after church tonight. Our service consisted of Bible Trivia questions. The older people's team won over the youth. A good time was had by all. Games were played outside after the fellowship. The youth of our church will be going to church camp the 18th of this month. Jim and Mona Dixon have had as guest this week their great granddaughters Ashley and Hannah Dixon of Mountain Home. Tyler enjoyed fishing with them on Thursday afternoon. They also visited with Aunt Sue Dixon. Valeria O'Keefe had daughter Brenda Hart and granddaughter Erin of Hope for supper on Saturday night. Ila Carpenter of Waterloo, Alice Bennet of West Monroe, La., and Frank and his wife and baby of Plano, Texas, all visited Freddy and Judy Bennett and children of Frisco, Texas, and Allison Bennett of Plano during the Fourth of July holidays. Dail and Marjorie Evans and daughter Judy went to Taylor last Sunday night to hear son, Bro. Jerry, preach and spent the night with them. Monday Marjorie and Judy shopped in Texarkana. Jennifer Bailey and Greg Brady were married Saturday night at White's Chapel Church by Bro. Jerry Evans in a beautiful ceremony. The church and outside were decorated to the utmost as they have been working on this several weeks. We wish them a long happy married life. Everyone has been busy with corn, beans, peas and tomatoes this hot weather. Mike and Mary Smith and Ruth Vinson are home after a long hot camping trip to White Oak Lake. They report a good time, but they were sick while there. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
