Prison Agreement Approved By Nevada County JPsBY RICKY RAGSDALEPublished Wednesday, July 12, 2000 in the Nevada County Picayune Nevada County and LaSalle Management Corporation have entered an agreement to recruit the Arkansas Department of Corrections (ADC) to approve its first private owned and operated prison in the state. This agreement was reached Monday, July 10, when the Nevada County Quorum Court voted 8-0 to allow Nevada County Judge James Roy Brown to enter into the agreement. Prescott-Nevada County Economic Development director Jon Chadwell told JPs this is the first step and during the next six months, the county and LaSalle will be heavily engaged in locating the 400+ bed unit on property just outside Prescott city limits. The prison, if approved by the ADC will employ about 70 local workers with an annual payroll of $1 to $1.2 million. More information in the July 19 edition of the Nevada County Picayune.
