Prescott's 9-10-year-old All Stars made history Saturday, July 8, by winning the regional tournament at Bearden.

The squad managed to capture the title behind the pitching of C.J. Brown, Matthew Hull, Drew Loe and Gavan McCauley, while also relying on a stingy defense and potent offense.

Prescott's team breezed through the double-elimination bracket without a loss to reach the finals against Fordye.

Play in the tourney began at noon Saturday, July 1, a Gurdon pummeled Hampton 17-6. Prescott then edged Fordyce 9-8, while Sparkman took a forfeit win over Canan. The final opening round game saw Bearden thrash Smackover 18-4.

Gurdon and Prescott met in the second round of the winner's bracket, with Gurdon's crew taking a 15-4 pounding. Sparkman fell victim to a potent Bearden offense, 20-3.

This set up the final game in the winner's division between Prescott and Bearden, with Prescott's boys posting a 16-4 thrashing of their victims.

In the opening round of the loser's bracket, Fordyce whipped Hampton 14-2 to advance. Smackover got a forfeit win over Canan to move on as well.

Round two saw Fordyce dismantle Sparkman 14-4, while Gurdon cooked Smackover 19-7.

In the semifinal game of the loser's bracket, Fordyce managed a come-from-behind 8-7 win over Gurdon, and followed it up with a 20-11 slugfest victory against Bearden to reach the tourney finals.

Meeting Prescott a second time didn't help Fordyce any as the Prescott crew maintained its pristine image with a 14-4 win.

Prescott advances to the state contest and will be playing in Bentonville this weekend.
