Five Arrested On Drug Charges In CountyBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, July 12, 2000 in the Nevada County Picayune Five people have been arrested on drug charges by the Nevada County Sheriff's Office in three different cases. According to Nevada County Sheriff Steve Otwell, the series of arrests began Sunday, July 2 , when Russell Williams, 39, of Panama City, Fla. was pulled over on a routine traffic stop because his license plate was improperly displayed. Williams gave officers consent to search his vehicles, with the officers finding drug paraphernalia. They placed the suspect under arrest and found a quantity of "ice", a dextroamphetamine, during the physical search. He is currently being held on $100,000 bond. Friday, July 9, Otwell said, the NCSO was doing its annual drug eradication program, with an officer with the Drug Task Force doing a flying search of the area. The pilot spotted what looked to be marijuana in a stock trailer at the home of Johnny Davidson, 45, of Prescott, and notified Otwell and the NCSO. Officers arrived around 10 a.m. and found the marijuana the pilot had notified them of. It was located in a stock trailer behind a shed on the property. Otwell said the marijuana was used as probable cause to get a search warrant for the interior of the house, where officers found an undetermined amount of drugs believed to be heroin, methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana, along with a considerable amount of cash. Davidson was placed under arrest, being charged with possession of controlled substance with intent to manufacture, marijuana, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, namely the heroin, cocaine and methamphetamine, along with simultaneous possession of drugs and weapons. A woman in the house with Davidson, Janet Alene Ault, 36, of Dallas, Texas, was also arrested in the raid. She was charged with possession of schedule II narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia, simultaneous possession of drugs and weapons, possession of controlled substance with intent to manufacture, marijuana, and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, namely the cocaine, heroin and methamphetamine. Jerry Dean Jones, 39, of Emmet, was arrested Sunday, July 9, in connection with the Davidson case. After questioning, Jones admitted knowledge of the marijuana in the stock trailer and was arrested, charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to manufacture. Sunday, July 9, at 9:45 p.m. was the last arrest the NCSO made. Acting on a tip, Otwell and deputies went to the home of Mitchell Wayne Anderson, 40, of Prescott and found 10 marijuana plants about five-feet tall growing near the house. A search of the house turned up a misdemeanor amount of marijuana, along with about six weapons. Anderson was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to manufacture, possession of firearms by certain persons and simple possession of marijuana.
