Clark, Wingfield Reunion Held

The second Sunday in June the Clarks, Wingfields and friends gathered for their annual reunion, which has been held each year since 1938.

For the first time in several years the crowd was standing room only in Center Grove Methodist, where the reunion is held. The families expressed their appreciation to the church which has so graciously offered their home to them for many years.

Bruce Freeman Jr. was the master of ceremonies and kept the show running smoothly. Eddie and Winnie Clark led the singing and played piano.

Wonderful entertainment was provided by Harry Blanton Jr. and friends who sang gospel music in the morning and hung around after the good-eating-on-the-grounds for a little pickin' and grinin'.

Sarah Cox led the group in an uplifting memorial acknowledging family members and friends who have made the passage from this world to the next. This part of the reunion always seems a gift from God to feel his presence along with family who have been with us before on this special second Sunday in June, yet we no longer see.

Many old photographs of ancestors and past reunions were brought and shared in a display which was enjoyable to see.

To all those who were able to attend this year thanks and it was great to see you.

Those who were unable to make it this year were missed and everyone hopes you can make it next year. Even if you haven't been in many years, you should consider a reappearance.

In a world where families are so spread out and busy, coming together to reunite can be a cool drink of water in a sometimes difficult journey.

The forefathers gathered often in large numbers to kick back and enjoy the fruits of their labor and the children God blessed them with. "These are the children of God has given me. God has been good to me." Genesis 33:5.
