Al-Anon, for those affected by another's drinking, meets Thursday evenings at 8:00 in the church. For more information call 887-5991. A representative of the Texarkana Social Security office will be in Prescott at the courthouse July 27, August 24 and September 28. Supplemental Security Income pays monthly checks to people who are aged, disabled or blind and who do not own much or have much income. SSI is not just for adults. Monthly checks can be paid to disabled and blind children. To find out if you are eligible call 1-800-772-1213. S.C.A.N., (suspected child abuse and neglect) needs volunteers. Hope Quilters Guild will hold its monthly meeting Thursday, July 6, in the Citizens National Bank conference room, Third and Elm Streets in Hope at 7 p.m. There will be a stained glass workshop beginning at 5:30 p.m. For more information call Faye Poe at 887-3809 or Marcia Lasiter at 887-6838. The Emmet School board will have its regular monthly meeting Monday evening, July 10 at 7:00 in room 4. The agenda includes high school principals' reports, superintendent's report, and the board will consider milk, bread, carpet cleaning, fire extinguisher bids, the budget for the 2001-02 school year and personnel matters. A free gospel concert, featuring one of America's favorite trios, the Galloways. The concert will be held on Saturday, July 8 at 7 p.m. at Grandpa's Place, located 13 miles south of Hope between Patmos and Falcon. Also appearing will be the Men of Calvary from McNeil. Take your lawn chairs. A concession stand will be available and a love offering will be taken. For more information call 870-777-1382.
