Painting Of County History ProgressesBY RICKY RAGSDALEPublished Wednesday, July 5, 2000 in the Nevada County Picayune BIG PICTURE Jorge and Maria Villegas have been working diligently creating a mural depicting the life and times of Prescott and Nevada County. The mural is being painted on a wall at the intersection of Highway 67 and Main Street. The Villegas mix the colors used themselves, and this project could call for 80-150 different colors to be mixed. They were slowed down somewhat by June's unusually heavy rainfall, but, weather permitting, should have the mural completed in the near future. Newspaper articles have been contributed to the Prescott Community Freenet Association as a "current history" of our area. Articles dated December 1981 through May 2001 were contributed by Ragsdale Printing Company, Inc. Articles June 2001 to ? were contributed by Better Built Group, Inc. Articles ? to October 2008 were contributed by GateHouse Media. Ownership of all Nevada County Picayune content from the beginning of the newspaper, including predecessors, until May 2001 was contributed by the John and Betty Ragsdale family to the Prescott Community Freenet Association.
