CaneyRuby WickerPublished Wednesday, May 26, 1999 in the Nevada County Picayune Hi, neighbors. Hope you missed me the last two weeks. Friends, Glenda Westmoreland, Mary Overton, Fairilee May and I made a trip through Missouri, South Dakota, Iowa, Wyoming, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and Oklahoma. We saw God's wonderful creations, met lots of nice people and some not so nice. Bro. Junior and Ann Loe went to Little Rock Wednesday. Junior had a check up. He said his doctor did not advise him to quit working in the garden and he thought he would change doctors. Sorry to hear of the death of Lee Martin. Lee was involved in a 3-wheeler accident near Boughton Sunday. His mother, Brenda, formerly of Caney, now lives at Cale. Joe Bob and Lavenia Hinson of Little Rock visited Bro. Raymond and Phanae Hicks a few days ago. Bro. Raymond and Phanae visited their daughter, Sandy Brown and family in Arkadelphia Sunday. they went to church with the Browns and had a picnic lunch after church. Sandy's son graduated high school this year. Marsha Knowlin, bride-to-be of Tracy Bennet, was honored with a lingere shower at the home of Maxine Glass Saturday evening. It was hosted by the Glass girls, who will become Marsha's Aunts May 29. J.W. and Maxine Glass attended graduation for granddaughter, Dee Jarvis, Friday evening at Prescott. The families had a get together celebration at the home of daughter, Karen Jobe, afterwards. Rumor has it that marriage is in the near future for Dee. Sunday luncheon guests of J.W. and Maxine were Steve, Deb and Cody Jackson, Dee Jarvis, and Pat, Tim and Leah McCullough. Kenny McCullough visited in the afternoon. Everyone was proud to have Margie Reed home again. She has been on an extended visit with her sister, Charlotte Smith, in Cutoff, La. Margie and I had lunch at the Cracker Barrel in Arkadelphia Sunday. Dennis Hicks of Dallas made a weekend visit with his parents, Bob and Carolyn. See you next week, neighbors. Feed your faith and your doubts will starve to death. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
